Description	:	John Vandervalk, long time resident of Nobleford and Claresholm area, passed away June 24, 2016 at the Claresholm General Hospital at the age of 87. John was born in Fort Macleod; raised by Henry and Gaziena Ham on a farm west of Nobleford and went to school in Barons. As a young boy John had a ‘trap line’ and would sell pelts, banking the funds to buy a truck. He purchased his first truck at age 16 and began hauling gravel, coal and cattle. In March of 1950, John married Rickie Schiebout of Nobleford. Together they farmed and raised six children. John was an avid fisherman and hunter. John was predeceased by an infant son, his parents: Jacobus and Maria (Segboer) Vandervalk, his brothers: Gerrit (George), Jake, Bill, Bram and special companion Margaret Stevens. He is survived by his sister, his six children; 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Interment took place prior to the service, at the Granum Christian Reformed Cemetery on Thursday, June 30, 2016, followed by a Funeral Service at the Granum Christian Reformed Church.
