He was born on April 19, 1872 at Attica, Marion County , Iowa; his parents being Rev. John and Dorothy Ann Coons Mark. On April 18, 1893; he was married to Maggie Belle Roebuck at Knoxville, Iowa. Coming to Halstead vicinity, in 1903;he has lived fifty years in this community. To Mr. and Mrs. Mark were born five daughters and eight sons. Mark passed away in the Halstead,Kansas Hospital on Friday evening, March 19, after a five day illness. He was born on April 19, 1872 at Attica, Marion County , Iowa; his parents being Rev. John and Dorothy Ann Coons Mark. On April 18, 1893; he was married to Maggie Belle Roebuck at Knoxville, Iowa. Coming to Halstead vicinity, in 1903;he has lived fifty years in this community. To Mr. and Mrs. Mark were born five daughters and eight sons. Mrs. Mark passed away on March 17,1946 and a son William Leroy also proceeded him in death at the age of ten years and a daughter, Lola died after she reached the age of twenty nine years. Surviving him are; Mrs. Elva Cowan of Springfield, Missouri; Mrs. Ruth Paden of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Dorothy Van Buran of Harbor City, California; Mrs. Marie Osborne o9f New Orleans, La; Lloyd of Council Grove, Kansas, Earl (Ike) of Halstead; Dale of Sterling, Kansas; Bert, Paul and William of Willington, California; and Harold of Bakersfield, California. In addition to his sons and daughters, he is also survived by one sister; Mrs. Minnie D. Cathcart; of Halstead, Kansas sixteen grandchildren and six great grand children. Also, many other relatives. He reached the age of eighty years and eleven Months. Memorial services were conducted from the First Presbyterian Church on Thursday afternoon March 23ed, at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. Richard Klein, pastor of the church. He was committed to his final resting place in the Halstead Cemetery with the direction of the Kaufman Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
