Rees, 72-year-old Longmont (Colorado) building contractor, suffered a heart attack while on a fishing trip Tuesday in the rugged country above Eagle, Colorado, and died during the afternoon. The coroner notified relatives here of Mr. Rees' death and said the equipment had been sent to return his body to Eagle. His death occurred about 2 P.M. Mr. Rees and friends had gone on the fishing trip Monday. Mr. Rees, whose home was at 926 Kimbark Street, was born in Jackson, Kansas, February 20, 1885. He came to Longmont in 1921, and, except for seven years spent in Russia on a construction job for the Russian Government and time spent in Idaho and other places on shorter jobs, had made his home continuously in Longmont ever since. He married Mrs. Jennie Persons in Longmont, May 8, 1943. His permanent residence had been in Longmont since 1941. Mr. Rees had beed engaged in developing a sub-division, known as Pratt Gardens, in the area east of Martin street and south of Ninth avenue. He was actively engaged in construction work up until the time of his death. A member of A.F.& A.M. lodge no.360 at Jennings, Kansas, Mr. Rees also belonged to the consistory at Topeka and Isis temple shrine at Salina, Kansas. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, Jay V. Rees of Abington, Pennsylvania; one stepson, William R. Persons, Littleton, Colorado; Three daughters, Mrs. Veda Groves and Mrs. Ready Farley, Albuquerque, and Mrs. Glenita Tritt, Colby, Kansas, The latter two being twins; one brother, Wayne S. Rees, Moab, Utah; Two sisters, Mrs Tom Green, Longmont, and Mrs. C.D.Boulls, Jennings, Kansas, and 10 grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. [Longmont, Colorado, MDP] Rees; John V., 72 of Longmont, died near Eagle, Colorado, August 20, 1957. Survived by wife, one son, one stepson, three daughters, one brother, two sisters and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services Saturday, 10 A.M., Lewellen Funeral Home, Rev. E. Paul Gamber officiating. Body to be taken to Jennings, Kansas, for Masonic graveside services Sunday at 2 P.M.
