Description	:	John W. Evans Funeral services for John W. Evans, mention of whose death was made in last week's Leader, were held Friday afternoon in the Methodist church in Emerson conducted by the pastor, Rev. L. E. Ripley. Music was furnished by a quartet: Corliss Nelson, Avis Taylor, A. F. Smith, and R. L. Fields. Burial was in the Emerson cemetery. The pall bearers were: Charles Carson, Ira N. Cheney, Roy Viner, W. Evans, son of Harmon and Mary Emelyne Evans, was born in Monmouth, Illinois, Oct. 11, 1864 and departed this life at Iowa City, Feb. 27, 1934, at the age ot sixty-nine years, five months, and one day. He came to Iowa in 1868 and settled in Mills county near Henderson where he grew to manhood, later coming to the community of Emerson where he lived the remainder of his life. At Red Oak, on Sept. 18, 1884 te was united in marriage with Ida Bell Smith. To their union were born two children, Leona Pickerel, who for some months has been living with her parents, and one son who died in infancy. Mr. Evans leaves to mourn his departure his wife, daughter, and three grandchildren, Ralph, Jack, and Florence; his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Hilder, of Wakefleld, Nebr., (his mother is 94 years old, too feeble to be present); two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Woodward of Allen, Nebr. and Mrs. Eftie Lund ot Wayne, Nebr., who was present; and one brother, Wilburn W, Evans, of Wakefleld, Nebr. Mr. Evans was widely known throughout our community and will be greatly missed by all. The face I loved is now laid low, His loving voice is still.
