Description	:	Death claimed John W. Hollenbeck at one o'clock Thursday afternoon. He had worked at his line-type as usual that morning. His last piece of machine composition was a sale bill set without an error. His long time fellow worker, Mort McCauley, drove him home at noon. John complained of a pain near the heart. His long time fellow worker, Mort McCauley, drove him home at noon. John complained of a pain near the heart. He lay down without eating his lunch. Dr. Moser applied restoratives, but within an hour life had ebbed out without a struggle. Since his youth John had suffered from a diabetic malady that required a rigid diet. He had endured his handicap courageously, keeping steadily at work, often doubtless under stress of pain. He was thorough, conscientious and expert in his work, popular with his associates in the office. He began work in the Recorder office in 1921, soon after his graduation from high school. In 1824-5 he spent two years working in Oregon, but returned to Holton and resumed work in the Recorder office, an uninterrupted connection of 20 years, working as printer and linotype operator. John was born in Larkinburg July 2, 1903, making his age 41 years, 3 months and 10 days. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Hollenbeck, of Holton; a sister, Mrs. A. D. Anderson, Seattle, Wash.; and two brothers, Ralph Hollenbeck, Olathe, and Floyd Hollenbeck, now in Army service in Ft. Hamilton, N. Y. Funeral services will be held at the Christian church this (Monday) afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Troy Bess, pastor of the church. Burial will be in the Holton cemetery. John's brothers, Ralph and Floyd, and his sister came for the funeral service. The body will lie in state at the Mercer funeral home until one o'clock today.
