Description	:	John William Baker, was born in Shell Rock, Freeborn, Minnesota on October 20, 1871, his father was 50 years old and his mother was 35 at the time. Some knew him as "Four Horse Billy" or "Billy" was the son of William Baker and Emily Belinda Streeter. He was the oldest born to them of 4. His younger sister being Anna Laura Baker Green. Read More	John William Baker, was born in Shell Rock, Freeborn, Minnesota on October 20, 1871, his father was 50 years old and his mother was 35 at the time. Some knew him as "Four Horse Billy" or "Billy" was the son of William Baker and Emily Belinda Streeter. He was the oldest born to them of 4. His younger sister being Anna Laura Baker Green. They had 2 infant siblings as well, one rumored to be named Genevieve. It is also rumored that Billy's mother, Emily, was deaf, after she had given birth to one of her children, the baby laid with her, Emily had fallen asleep with the baby next to her and rolled over the child, not being able to hear the baby scream, the poor baby suffocated. The Baker's left Freeborn County sometime in 1877 and ended up coming West to Farmington, Whitman, Washington. Where they are for the 1880 U. S. Census. It wasn't much later after the census was taken that William became disillusioned with farming and pioneering, he deeded his land to his wife and took off not to be heard from again. His wife, Emily believes he returned to his beloved home, England. It was found that William returned to Minnesota and lived with his daughter Dora Baker Miller, until his death in 1898. His mother moved the family from Farmington to Idaho where they had land in Latah County, Idaho. Here is where his sister met and married her husband, Jake Green. Billy continued to live with his mother in Latah County until 1902, he and Emily took off a little east to Tobacco Valley (Eureka), Montana. They found their new homestead in the Black Lake Regions, which is also known as Baker Lakes. They sent word back to Idaho to his sister's family that the grass was truly greener where they land. The Green family packed up their lives and their 5 children and moved to the Tobacco Valley. It is here that Billy and his family remained the rest of their lives. He was never married nor had any children. Emily passed away in 1922 from Apoplexy, Annie passed in 1935 from carcinoma of stomach, Jake passed away in 1947 from cerebral hemorhage and Billy passed away in 1948. All four are buried beside one another.
