Remember he always sang "Birds in the trees whisper, Louise...etc" I mentioned the song when I presented a eulogy at his funeral. =================== This is an exerpt from Dad's book: "The Case tractor ran on four metal wheels. The two rear wheels were about five feet in diameter and contained blunt ended "spurs","spikes" or "slugs" attached to the huge wheels, which gave the wheels more traction. Now, we are getting down to real business by purchasing a 1918 Case tractor with RED WHEELS...all shiny and everythin'...try to visualize cousin Pop (John William Popin), with a "beanie"(cut out from an old felt hat) on top of his head like a hole punctured skull cap, behind its steering wheel with a knob on it so that he could spin the wheel around a mile a minute and could look backward and still able to guide the beauty from his standing position. He could make a right turn at the end of run so that the combine came out lined up for the next cutting at right angles from its original direction. That took a great deal of skill.
