Manahan, 82, of Cascade, died at 4:15 a.m. today, at the Waynesboro, Pa. Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was born near Smithsburg, Feb. 23, 1888, a son of the late Cryus (sic) B. and Martha V. Kline (sic) Manahan.His early life was lived in the Smithsburg area. He and Mrs. Manahan were married in May, 1917 and made their home near Emmitsburg for 23 years prior to moving to Cascade in 1949. Prior to his retirement in 1956, Manahan was employed as a machinist at the Landis Machine Company for over 30 years. He was a member of the Church of God of the Prophecy, Harbaugh's Valley, and the CPMA of the church. In addition to his widow, Mrs. Viola M. Leiboldt Manahan, he is survived by these children, Marshall, RFD 1, Smithsburg; Mrs Ralph Harrison, Sabillasville; Mrs. Clifford Himes Jr., RFD 3, Smithsburg; and Earl Manahan at home. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, a half-sister, Mrs. Martha Summers, Frederick; two half-brothers, David Tracey, Mapleville; and Mark Tracey, RFD 1, Smithsburg. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in the Chestnut Bethel Church near Foxville. The Rev. William Parks will officiate. Burial will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call at the Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and at the church prior to the service on Friday.
