While living in Prairie Township, four of their children died in one week." Johnson Robinson Johnson Robinson, one of the pioneer settlers of Delaware county died Monday evening, January 16, 1911. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mr.s C. D. Correll, of Greeley, where he had gone about a week ago for a visit. The deceased was born in County Fermanaugh, Ireland, December 14, 1829. At the age of twenty he came to this country and settled in Pittsburg, Pa., where he married Mary Anderson in April 1855. They came to Delaware county from Pittsburg in November 1854, settling in Prairie township. In 1865 he removed to a farm just north of Manchester, where he lived until he retired from active life and removed to this city. To Mr. and Mrs. Robinson were born twelve children, seven of whom survive their father. Mrs. Robinson also survives her husband. Four of their children died of diphtheria in one week in 1864. The fifth died in infancy. The living children are Anthony and Archie, both of whom reside in Nebraska, Robert, who lives in Coffins Grove township, Mrs. Anna Staehle of Waubay, South Dakota, Mrs. Mary Work of Manchester, Mrs. Carrie Correll of Greeley and Mrs. Leona Parker, who resides in California. All of the children are expected here for the funeral. In the death of Johnson Robinson, Delaware county loses one of it oldest and highly respected residents. He was one of the well known Robinson brothers who were among the first settlers in Prairie and Adams townships. His brothers were James, Thomas, William, Robert and Anthony. James was the first of the number to come west and take up land in Adams township. All of the other named brothers soon followed. Johnson settled north of his brother James just over the line in Prairie township he being the third settler in that township. The deceased was the last one of the six brothers to pass away. He possessed the sterling qualities of manhood so characteristic of his family. He was a man whose character was above reproach. His life was a useful one and his integrity the highest. His many friend deeply regret the passing of this good man. The remains were brought to his home here today and the funeral service will be held at the Silver Creek church Friday morning of this week. In the event that Mrs. Leona Parker, a daughter who is on her way here from California, should be delayed the funeral will be held on Saturday. Interment will be made in the Silver Creek cemetery.
