Description	:	Jonathan W. Parsons fought in the Civil War. He enlisted in the Iowa the Third Iowa Volunteer Cavalry on March 14, 1864, and served in Company B. He saw action in Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama. He mustered out with the rest of his company on August 9, 1865, in Atlanta, Georgia. The Douds newspaper reported on Jonathan's death as follows: "Wednesday evening Jonathan Parsons, living about four miles north of Douds Station, went to the well to get a bucket of water. Mr. Parsons was an ex-soldier, a member of Co. B 3rd Iowa Cavalry. He was a kind husband, a loving father, a true friend, a good neighbor and an honest man."
