Anthony was born in Lee County, Iowa, October 30, 1853, and died at the home of her daughter Emma, near Birmingham, Iowa, September 27, 1918, aged 64 years, 10 months, and 27 days. She was married in Clark County, Missouri, to Jonathan W. Parsons, March 5, 1871. To this union were born 8 children, 4 sons and 4 daughters. Her husband with two sons and one daughter preceded her in death. Those living are Cornelius K. of Ayrshire, Palo Alto County, Iowa; Mrs. Lesta Siemon of Kilbourn, Iowa; Irvin and Mrs. Emma Tedrow of Birmingham, Iowa, and Bertha at home who has cared for her mother for the past six years. All were present during her last sickness except Cornelius K. who came later. She came with her husband and one daughter to Douds, Iowa, 43 years ago and has resided in the immediate neighborhood ever since. Mrs. Parsons early in life became a member of the Baptist church. On coming to Douds she affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal church and continued a faithful member to the time of her death. Her husband was a veteran of the Civil War, a member of Company B, 3rd Iowa Calvary. Besides her 5 children, she leaves 10 grandchildren, a brother Robert Anthony of Croton, Iowa, and a sister, Mrs. Lydia Hixson of Pleasant Valley, Oregon. Truly a good mother and neighbor has gone. Funeral services were held at the Zion Lutheran church northeast of Douds, Monday at 2 o'clock, September 30, 1918 by Reverend Charles L. Ellis of the M. E. church. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at that place. *********************************************************** Friday night, Mrs. Parsons died at the home of Mrs. Milo Tedrow, west of town. She had come to make a short visit with her daughter and was taken seriously sick in a few days after her arrival. Saturday her remains was taken to her home in Douds. The family has the sympathy of their many friends in this sad hour of bereavement.
