Read More	Obituary from Dayton Review, Thursday, 12/19/1920, material in brackets added by request of contributor #50203813: Jonathan Ridgway was born July 7 1838, at Sparland, Illinois, and died December 4, 1920, at eight o'clock p.m., at the hospital at West Union, Ia., at the age of 82 years, 4 months, 27 days. He was united in marriage with Mary Jane Farden, January 14, 1865, at Chillicothe, Illinois, which was their home for several years. In 1893, they came to Dayton, which was their home until nine years ago, when they broke up housekeeping. Since then they have live with their children, his wife dying December 2, 1914. To their union was born six children, two sons and four daughters. Two daughters, Frances [?-?] and Olive [1875-1875], passed away in chilhood [sic], and a son, Lonzo, died at this place July 1, 1910. A son, Ralph Ridgway, at Albert Lea, Minnesota and two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Osborn of Polk city, Iowa, and Mrs. Lily Whitaker of West Union, Iowa, with eighteen grandchldren, twelve great grandchildren, three brothers and a sister, survive to mourn his passing. Mr. Ridgway joined the First Advent Church in his early life, and has always had Christ as his dearest and best friend through life, which made him a dutiful husband and father, and a friend to all. On November 28th, he received a fall which resulted in a fractured hip, and on account of his advanced age, caused his death. His remains were brought to Dayton Tuesday morning, and funeral held from Grace M.E. Church. Rev. Walker conducting the exercises, and he was laid to rest in Dayton cemetery. The many friends of the family in this community sympathize with the family in their bereavement.
