| Description | : | Founder of the Czech Farmers’ Mutual Aid Society (1876-1893), the first and only society of its kind in Nebraska, the State with the greatest number of Czech farmers. Its purpose was to provide insurance against damage to crops, such as wheat, rye, barley, oats and later flax, corn and potatoes. All told there were 50 branches of the society and a total membership of 1,000.
