Read More	Fremont Tribune (Fremont, Nebraska) 22 Jan 1936, Wed Page 3 Rose Popelar Is Buried At Dodge Dodge, Jan. 22 - Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Popelar were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the chapel in the Bohemian national cemetery in Dodge, with Rev. B.A. Fillipi in charge. Mrs. Popelar died Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Otradovec, in Omaha. She was born March 13, 1859, at Caslav, Czechoslovakia, and was married to Anton Popelar at Schuyler in 1878. They lived in Schuyler for a time, and then moved to Manitowoc, Wis., returning later to Schuyler. In 1899 they moved to Dodge where Mr. Popelar entered the hardware business. He sold the business in 1910 and moved to Conlea, later going to Meadow Grove where he died in 1926. Surviving children are: Emil, Edward, Lumer and Mrs. Otradovec. A sister, Mrs. Antonie Mark of Vancouver, Wash., also survives, as do three grandchildren. Otradovec at Omaha, the lady having made her home with her daughter and family since the death of her husband on July 18, 1926. She was given loving and devoted care during her long illness which extended over a period of about a year. Those who had the privilege of Mrs. Popelar's acquaintance remember he as a lady of refinement, sincerity and of sympathetic friendliness and life brought to her the grace and sweetness of full womanly years. Rose Hanzel was pioneer resident of southern Colfax county, having come here when nine years of age with her parents from Caslav, Czechoslovakia, where she was born 77 years ago on March 19, 1859. She was married to Anton Poplear at Schuyler in 1879, and for some years lived on Shell creek where he was interested in the operation of a grist mill. They spent a few years during the early years of their marriage in Wisconsin, at Reedville. A few years after Howells was established, the family took up their residence at this place, and in partnership with Joseph Novak did a fine business in the hardware and implement line. After about ten years he sold out to his partner and bought out a business in the same lines at Dodge where the family resided until 1909 when they moved to Newman Grove, where Mr. Popelar died almost ten years ago. In 1929 Mrs. Poplar accompanied the Otradovec family when they left Meadow Grove for Omaha - also the home of her sons, Ed and Lumer, a third son, Emil J., being located at Dodge. These three surviving sons and daughter and their families have the sincere sympathy of their many Colfax county friends who realize their great loss of a loving, kind, and devoted mother.
