Joseph Banks married Ann Autherson (daughter of Richard Autherson and Sally Richardson) on 30 June 1842 at Warter, Yorkshire, England. They became the parents of Richard Autherson (Audi), Sarah, William, Mary, John, Harriet, Thomas (died young), Robert Lee, Elizabeth, Thomas (yes, there were two), Henry Richardson, Lucy, and Frederick. In 1845 Joseph and Ann with their son, Audi, emigrated to Ontario, Canada, living first near present-day West Toronto, and then Guelph, before settling in Amaranth Township, where the family is recorded on the 1852, 1861, 1871, 1881 censuses. Joseph Banks was a son of Richard Banks {born 1784 at Thorpe Bassett parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, son of William and Dinah Banks; death date unknown, but buried 15 March 1837 at Wharram Percy, ERY) and Elizabeth "Betty" Lee (born 1782 in Full Sutton, ERY, daughter of James Lee and Sarah Smith; died after 1861 in Ontario, Canada. Note that she is _not_ the Elizabeth Lee from Huntington parish, who sadly died there in 1803.) Richard Banks and Elizabeth Lee married on 28 November 1805, at the now-ruined and abandoned St. Martin's Church at Wharram Percy, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
