Joseph Currier Joseph Currier, 78, 6 Shattuck Street, was found dead in the gas-filled kitchen of his home in a third floor apartment at 2:15 pm Wednesday. He had not been seen since last Wednesday. Edward Frizell, occupant of the next apartment, notified police that gas was seeping from the Currier apartment and Office Joseph O'Connor was assigned to investigate. A window was broken to gain entrance and Currier was found slumped in a chair. Downstairs residents said they smelled gas about a week ago but as the wind changed the odor vanished leading the tenants to believe the smell came from passing trains in the nearby railroad yard. Ambulance attendants Robert French and Thomas Silke with William O'Neil of the Lawrence Gas and Electric company responded to the call, but service was not needed. Born in Lawrence, the victum made his home in this city for 40 years and was a contractor before his retirement some 20 years ago. His wife, Catherine (Donahue) Currier, died in 1935. Surviving are three sons, Joseph and William Currier of Lawrence and Frank Currier of Brookfield, also several grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The body was removed to the John J Hard, Jr. Funeral home, from where the funeral will be held Saturday morning with a soleman high Mass of requiem at 10 o'clock in St Patrick's church. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
