Description	:	Chester Sawyer, son of Joseph E. and Nellie Dear Sawyer, was born Sept. 27, 1883 on a farm southwest of Chester, and died at the Republic Co. Hospital at Belleville, Kans., March 10, 1966. He received his education in the Chester Public School, graduating from high school in 1902, and had spent his entire life farming in the Chester community. Read More	Chester Sawyer, son of Joseph E. and Nellie Dear Sawyer, was born Sept. 27, 1883 on a farm southwest of Chester, and died at the Republic Co. Hospital at Belleville, Kans., March 10, 1966. He received his education in the Chester Public School, graduating from high school in 1902, and had spent his entire life farming in the Chester community. Chester retained his interest in plant life and growth all of his days. He was united in marriage to Mabel Throne on Dec. 25, 1917, and to this union two daughters were born. Chester was received as a member of The Methodist Church of Chester on profession of his faith July 20, 1907. He became a member of the Chester I.O.O.F. Lodge Feb. 3, 1906, and has retained continuous membership since. He was a trustee of the Chester Cemetery Assn., and a director of the State Bank of Chester. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Mabel; daughters, Wilma Faye of Beatrice and Lorene (Mrs. Harmon Gilkeson) of Chester; four grandchildren, Ronald, Robert, Ann and David Gilkeson; son-in-law, Harmon Gilkeson; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Mosshart of Yates Center, Ks., and Miss Edith Sawyer of Chester; as well as many neighbors and friends. Funeral services were held at the Chester Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon, March 13, conducted by the Rev. Marion Loftis. Mrs. Edward Reed and Mrs. Howard Reed of Belleville sang, accompanied by Mrs. Dolan Frye. The pallbearers were Joe Duey, Frank Larkins, Howard Reed, Edwin Hoops, J.F. Gausman and E.G. Nesmith. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery, Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge.
