Joseph Clair Thoma was born March 19, 1933, near Albert City, Iowa. He was the son of Fred and Mary (Wenzel) Thoma. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Pocahontas. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 – 1956. In 1959, Joseph married Carol Schuller at Spencer. The couple settled near Laurens. Joseph farmed and then worked as a machinist at Positech. Survivors include his son, Denny (Faye) Thoma of Monument, CO and sisters, Barbara (Lee) Bourgeois of Chandler, AZ and Judy (Jim) Blin of Independence. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Madonna Hallman.
