Read More	IN MEMORY OF JOSEPH CROW Joseph Crow was born in Marshall county, West Virginia, January 31, 1848, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bessie Wilcox, seven miles northwest of Akron, Iowa, in Union county, S. D., Wednesday morning, May 8, 1929, having attained the advanced age of 81 years, 8 months, and 7 days. On August 10, 1871, he was united in marriage with Mary lilly, of Marshall county, W. Va. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Crow, two sons and two daughters having preceded their parents in death. In the year 1883 Mr. crow removed with his family from West Virginia to Ellendale, North Dakota, where they resided, enduring hardships incident to pioneering in that new country. Thence they came to the vicinity of Akron, Iowa, where they have resided during the past thirty years. The companion of Mr. Crow passed away at the family home near Akron, Iowa, April 12, 1921, since which time Mr. Crow has made his home with his children. Early in life Mr. Crow united with the Methodist church and continued in the fellowship of that communion during the remainder of his life. "Grandpa" Crow, as he was familiarly known, had been in failing health during the past few years and was confined to his bed for five weeks, afflicted with myocarditis decompensation. He was patient and kind all through his suffering. "Grandpa" Crow was of a jovial dispotition, a kind father and a good neighbor. He had a great liking for children and was a favorit among them and they called him "Uncle Joe." He leaves to mourn his departure two daughters, Mrs. Delia Sayles and Mrs. Bessie Wilcox; west of Akron, in Union county, S. D.; one son, Lewis Crow, of Geddes, S. D.; besides five grandchildren; also by one brother, of Moundsville, W. Va., together with a large number of other relatives and friends. The entire community extends to the bereaved ones its heartfelt sympathy in this sad hour. A brief service was held at the home of Mrs. Bessie Wilcox last Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, after which the body was brought to Akron and the funeral conducted at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock by the pastor, Wilson Gow. A quartet composed of Dr. Clara M. Stoutenburg, Mrs. Marguerite Kennedy, Dr. G. H. Wooton and J. A. Jenson, with Mrs. W. J. Brunner at the piano, rendered appropriate music. The pallbearers were Chas. Wise, W. W. Burrill, Elmer Hammer, Joe. Beach L. Fletcher and J. W. Clark. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. Akron Register Tribune Thursday, May 16, 1929 Akron, Iowa
