Description	:	Joseph D. Coder passed away Friday, September 27th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Edens, in Primrose after a long illness. Joseph Dallas Coder was born in Huron county, Ohio, January 11th, 1857. While still an infant he moved with his parents to eastern Iowa where he grew to young manhood. When about 28 years of age he moved to Sauders county, where he married Mary Ellen Kelley. Coder passed away Friday, September 27th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Edens, in Primrose after a long illness. Joseph Dallas Coder was born in Huron county, Ohio, January 11th, 1857. While still an infant he moved with his parents to eastern Iowa where he grew to young manhood. When about 28 years of age he moved to Sauders county, where he married Mary Ellen Kelley. To this union were born four children, Ralph of Alliance, Myrtle of Primrose, Edythe of Litchfield and Earle of Omaha. In 1892 the family moved to Boone county and located on a farm north of Boone where they lived six years, later locating on a farm near Loretto. In 1910 the wife and mother passed away and Mr. Coder moved to Loretto where he lived until about a year ago. In 1918 he was married to Mrs. Sarah Foote of Loretto who preceded him in death on October 16, 1933. While visiting his son, Ralph at Alliance last January he suffered a severe sick spell from which he never fully recovered. For the last five months he has made his home with his daughter in Primrose, growing steadily weaker until death came at 10:15 Friday evening, September 27th, 1935, at the advanced age of 78 years, 9 months and 16 days. He leaves to revere his memory his four children, ten grandchildren, and three step children, Russell and Cecil Foote of Torrington, Wyoming and Victor Foote of Oklahoma. While living at Boone he was united with the Christian church of Albion of which he remained a member until his passing. Always a strong believer in the life eternal, death brought a welcome relief. Funeral services were held at the home in Primrose and at the Methodist church in Loretto at two o’clock Sunday. The services were in charge of Rev. Varcoe of Primrose and Rev. Wylie of Loretto. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery at Albion. (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – October 3, 1935)
