Description	:	Joseph Daniel "Jay" Ronin was the son of Nicholas Ronin and Catherine Ahrens. He was born in Illinois; most likely in DeKalb county. He and his birth family had relocated from Illinois to Fremont, Dodge, Nebraska, likely between 1886 and 1892. "Jay" Ronin and Elizabeth "Bessie" Price were married in June of 1906 in Douglas county, Nebraska (Deed Book entry # 17467; Bessie's age wrongly entered as 29). He and his birth family had relocated from Illinois to Fremont, Dodge, Nebraska, likely between 1886 and 1892. "Jay" Ronin and Elizabeth "Bessie" Price were married in June of 1906 in Douglas county, Nebraska (Deed Book entry # 17467; Bessie's age wrongly entered as 29). The couple had three currently known children; Nicholas J., Elizabeth "Bessie", and Catherine. In 1910, Jay and Bessie were residing in Fremont, Dodge, Nebraska with their son, Nicholas, age three. The couple would go on to have two more children; Elizabeth (Bessie / Betty), b ca 1909-10, and Catherine, b ca 1911. In September of 1918, under the name of Joseph Daniel Ronin, Jay registered for the WW1 draft in Dodge county. His next of kin was his wife, Martha H. Ronin. Jay indicated that he was partially paralyzed and employed as a bartender by his brother, George. In 1920, as J. Ronin, he and Martha were residing in Fremont. As Jay, he and Martha were also residing in Freont in 1930. It appears that the three children were placed in the care of Jay's parents, Nicholas and Catherine in Platte, Dodge, Nebraska; which I can only assume took place shortly after Bessie's death. All three were present there in 1920, but by 1930, Nicholas was no longer present in their home. As Nicholas J. Ronin Jr., he enlisted in the army as a private on 13 Aug 1943 in Camden, New Jersey. He had completed 3 years of high school, was married, and listed his occupation as Foreman. In 1940, he and his wife, Addie (b ca 1916 in Nebraska) were residing in Mount Holly, Mount Holly Township, Burlington, New Jersey with a last residence of Fremont, Nebraska. At this time, he was a groom at a racing stable. Daughter, Elizabeth May Ronin Price, b ca 1909-10 in Nebraska. Daughter, Katherine Ina Ronin Buchta Boothe, 07 Mar 1911 19 Nov 1984.
