Read More	JOSEPH HAMILTON SCOTT DIES AT AMES; FUNERAL SERVICES HERE FRIDAY Funeral services for James Hamilton Scott, 70, a former resident of Villisca, who died at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa, Tuesday morning, will be held at the Methodist Church here Friday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Ernest M. Buehler will conduct the services. A brief service for Mr. Scott was held at the Adams Funeral Home in Ames Thursday morning and Ray Sutphen of the Sutphen Funeral Home went to Ames Thursday to bring the body here for burial. Pall bearers here will be John Kirk, Frank Butler, Howard Wolfe, F. S. Pierson, Bert King, and Roy Bowman. Music will be furnished by Mrs. Helen Penwell, J. H. Todd, and H. C. Lindell, with Mrs. J. L. Wheeler as pianist. The flower committee is Mrs. Frank Butler, Mrs. Howard Wolfe, and Mrs. Bert King. Mr. Scott had been confined to the hospital at Ames with a kidney ailment. He was making improvement and it was thought he would be able to leave the hospital when he suddenly succumbed. Villisca Review, Villisca, Iowa, Thursday, September 4, 1941, page 4 Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon i n the Villisca Methodist Church for Joseph Hamilton Scott, 70, who died last Tuesday at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa. The Rev. Weren’t M. Buehler conducted the services. The deceased, son of James H. and Martha Caroline Greenway Scott, was born in Mercy County, Illinois on August 29, 1871. At the age of 17 he located in the Guss vicinity, later moving to the North Grove neighborhood. Here he married Minnie E. Wise on October 11, 1896. Two children were born to them, Vinton, who died January 3, 1923, and Hazel Scott Burns of Ames, Iowa. The deceased lived in Villisca with the exception of the ears of 1903 and 1905. In April 1934, he moved to Ames where he was employed in a federal nursery until his retirement in 1937, when he moved to the home of his daughter in Ames. Besides his wife and daughter, the deceased is survived by his sister, Mrs. Cyrus Murphy of Villisca, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Villisca I.O.O.F. Lodge.
