Description	:	Joseph Harman, son of Hiram and Margaret Carr Harman, was born November 27, 1867, on a farm northeast of Milton, Iowa, and departed this life April 16, 1958 at his home near Milton at the age of 90 yeas, 4 months, and 19 days. Death came after a brief illness, following a stroke. He attended rural schools in Van Buren and Davis counties, Iowa, and was well known for his talent in mathematics and spelling. Read More	Joseph Harman, son of Hiram and Margaret Carr Harman, was born November 27, 1867, on a farm northeast of Milton, Iowa, and departed this life April 16, 1958 at his home near Milton at the age of 90 yeas, 4 months, and 19 days. Death came after a brief illness, following a stroke. He attended rural schools in Van Buren and Davis counties, Iowa, and was well known for his talent in mathematics and spelling. On March 5, 1895 he was ;united in marriage to Flora Viola Brumley at Stiles, Iowa. To this union was one daughter Hazel. As a young man he became interested in farming and made this his life's work, in addition to farming he maintained a machine repair shop and helped to do custom threshing for the neighborhood. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife; one brother Marion and one sister Mrs. Dave Lunsford. Surviving are his daughter, Hazel and son-in-law, Floyd Stanford: two brothers, John and Thomas; and one sister, Mrs. Alfred Lunsford. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Mrs. Roland Andrews,and Mrs. Lester Pender of Milton; Claude Bickel and Mrs. Robert Enlow of Bloomfield; and twelve great-grandchildren. His home for many years shared its love with the aged brother John, the four grandchildren; and their mother, Hazel, who has given them all great and devoted care. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 19, 1958 at 2:00 p.m. at the Milton Methodist church with the Rev. Harold Harryman of Milton officiating. Interment was in the South Prairie Chapel cemetery. From; Van Buren county newspaper.
