Funeral services will be at 2 pm Tuesday at Walker Funeral Home with Rev Ron Blix officiating. Mary Anderson will be organist. Casket bearers will be Carroll, Jim, Dan, Donald and Dusty Foster, Keith Wright and Roger Harris. Burial will be in Memory cemetery at New Market. On March 21, 1923, he was married to Hazel Combs who survives. Two sons also surviving are Estle Foster and Ronald Foster both of Clarinda, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. CLARINDA HERALD-JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, May 1976 JOSEPH HOMER FOSTER - [obituary read at funeral] We are here this afternoon in loving memory of Joseph Homer Foster, youngest son of Homer Benton Foster and Lucretia Merritt Foster. Joseph Foster was born Oct 3, 1903 in the same house in Page County, Iowa, where he died May 15, 1976 at the age of 72 years, 7 months, 12 days. Mr Foster received his education in rural schools and settled down to a life of farming. On Mar 21, 1923 he married Hazel Combs and began a marital partnership that was to span over a half a century. To this union were born two sons, Estle and Ronald, both of rural Clarinda. After over 30 years on the farm, Joseph was forced to cease farming for health reasons, and then worked for 12 years at the Mental Health Institute in Clarinda, retiring in 1968. Preceding Mr Foster in death were his parents, his sister Florence Wamsley, and his brothers Sam and Fred. Joseph Foster has left behind; his wife Hazel, his sons Estle and Ronald, and daughter-in-law Sharon. His grandchildren, Mrs Keith (Patty) Wright, Mrs Roger (Susan) Harris, and Carroll, Jim, Beth, Dan, Donald, Joe Jr and Leesa Foster. His great-grandchildren Nancy and Brenda Foster and Michelle and Julie Wright. Joseph was a man who loved his home, his farm and his livestock. It can be said he never passed up an opportunity to help his neighbors and friends. His friendly face will be sadly missed. Services were held May 18, 1976 at Walker Funeral Home in Clarinda, Iowa. Rev Ron Blix was clergyman, and Mary Anderson organist. Casket bearers were his grandsons Carroll Foster, Jim Foster, Dan Foster, Donald Foster, Dusty Foster, Keith Wright and Roger Harris.
