Description	:	Joseph Hooker Thompson, widely known in the Granada neighborhood, died Friday, Nov. 17, 1950 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mabel Plankinton, in Holton. Born Jan. 17, 1863, in Craig, Mo., the 12th of 13 children of Samuel and Evaline Thompson, he was the last to survive being 87 years and 10 months of age at his death. Born Jan. 17, 1863, in Craig, Mo., the 12th of 13 children of Samuel and Evaline Thompson, he was the last to survive being 87 years and 10 months of age at his death. On Mar. 11, 1886, he was married to Ida Hodgin. To this union only one child was born, now Mrs. Mabel Plankinton of Holton. His wife passed away in 1890. Mr. Thompson spent the early part of his life on a farm near Craig, MO., but in 1900 moved to Okmulgee, Okla, where he was employed as a rancher. In 1929 he came to Kansas to make his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Plankinton, at Granada. In his later years he loved to read his Bible, and did so as long as eyes would permit. He was a kind and patient father and grand-father. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, and four grandchildren-- Mrs. Elva Walkington, Durango, Colo; Ferne Reeves, Marion, Kans.; Lee Plankinton, Everest, Kan.; Gerald Plankinton, Horton, Kan.; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Mercer Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 2:00, conducted by Rev. Charles B. Kersey. Burial was in the Netawaka cemetery.
