Frescoln, age 80, a resident of Winner for the past 20 years passed away at his home in Winner on Tuesday, 9 April 1940. Joseph Kennard Frescoln was born at Canton, Oho 23 February 1860 and passed from this life on 9 April 1940. His parents were Reverend Leonard and Jane Frescoln. At the age of six years he moved with his parents from Jefferson county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. On 1 October 1884, he was united in marriage to Margaret L. Major. To this union ten children were born. In 1888 Mr. Frescoln came west with his wife and two small children. He lived for a time in Colorado, then for seven years in Indian territory, now a part of the state of Oklahoma. In the spring of 1898 he moved with his family to a farm near Elwood, Nebraska where he resided until the fall of 1919 when he moved to Winner to be near his elder sons, who had preceded him here. Mr. Frescoln's father was a Baptist minister and he united with this church early in life and remanined a member until his death. He was survived by his widow who resides here, five sons and four daughters, Emmett O.; Charles L.; Joseph G.; Dewey S.; and Elbert all of Winner, Mrs. Clara Fowler of Rockwell City, Iowa, Mrs. Clarence Coy of Smithfield, Mrs. Otto Pelletier of Colomo, South Dakota dnd Mrs. Lyle Mabbott of Lansing, Michigan. HIs oldest son, James Edgar preceded him in death in 1930. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Elias Beach of Delta, Colorado; seventeen grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Mr. Frescoln was always a student and reader, keenly interested in government and community affairs. A man of strong convictions, he was nevertheless charitable of the opinion of others, a kindly neighbor, a good father, loved and respected by all who knew him. Funeral services, conducted by Reverend John V. Leach, were held at the Methodist church in Winner and interment made in the Winner cemetery.
