Description	:	WINSLOW -- Joseph Donald Pelletier, 74, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2007, at the Veterans' Affairs Hospital in Togus, where he was being treated for cancer. He was born on June 16, 1933, in Winslow, son of Patrick and Desneiges Pelletier. He graduated from Winslow High School in the class of 1952, where he was a football star running back and considered by the local sports writers as "MR. TOUCHDOWN." Read More	WINSLOW -- Joseph Donald Pelletier, 74, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2007, at the Veterans' Affairs Hospital in Togus, where he was being treated for cancer. He was born on June 16, 1933, in Winslow, son of Patrick and Desneiges Pelletier. He graduated from Winslow High School in the class of 1952, where he was a football star running back and considered by the local sports writers as "MR. TOUCHDOWN." He was a veteran of the Air Force, where he was a jet engine mechanic. He was employed over the years in several fields, primarily as a diesel mechanic, a heavy equipment mechanic and operator and a millwright with The Carpenters and Jointers Union. He was also the co-owner of Raydon construction. He was the founder of the Pattee Pond Association in Winslow and responsible for the pond's clean-up, working with the Department of Environmental Protection and its present ponds status with the DEP. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post No. 5 in Waterville. He was also a member of Fort Halifax Snow Drifters for many years. In his later years he spent much of his time working in his wood shop, making creative wood items such as furniture and clocks that were marketed and sold by the Maine Made Shop. He also was in charge of the complete restoration of the Winslow "Little Red Schoolhouse" on the Cushman Road in Winslow which was built in 1806. All of the vintage furniture was built by him in accordance with State of Maine specifications as the equipment of the time. He also made many special things for many family members and friends. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. He enjoyed visiting and spending time with his family and friends during his leisure time. He will always be remembered for being a giving and generous person, always with time to help other people. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Beverly; three daughters, Debra Morgan and her husband, William, of Galt, Calif., Julie Tibbert of Winslow, Sandra Johnston and her husband, Jeffery, of Manchester, N.H.; grandsons Ryan O'Neal and his wife, Renee, of Winslow, Patrick O'Neal and his fiancŽe, Katie Veilleux, of Fairfield, Maxwell Tibbert of Winslow, and Adam and Eric Johnston of Manchester, N.H.; granddaughters Danielle Doyon of Galt and Danica Doyon of Las Vegas; and two great-grandchildren, Paige and Wesley O'Neal of Winslow. He is also survived by one older brother, Raymond A. Pelletier and his dear friend Martha Audet of Winslow; one older sister, Cecile A. Ellis of Lakewood Manor Nursing Home in Waterville; close friend and nephew Lewis P. Pelletier of Winslow; many cousins, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his step-family, step-children, David Leathers, Robert Leathers, Michael Leathers, and Linda Lizzotte, their spouses, and eight step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Also, three sisters-in-law, Priscilla Maheu, Norma McCaslin and Elizabeth Smith. He is also survived by his close friends Ronnie Gagnon, Grover Bragg, Jay Tibbert and Stan McAvoy, all of Winslow, with whom he enjoyed daily coffee meetings during his retirement years. He was predeceased by seven brothers, Patrick, Rudolph and his wife, Irene, Gerard, Lucien, Leo, Armand, and Robert; and two sisters, Marie Mailloux and her husband, Henry, and Juliette Pelletier. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St. in Waterville. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow, with a committal service following at 1 p.m. at the Maine Veterans' Cemetery on Mount Vernon Road in Augusta. This will be followed by a luncheon at the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Winslow. All are invited. A2C US AIR FORCE KOREA
