Description	:	Elloree - Joseph Sebastian Weeks, 78, former state representative, was found dead about 6:30 Monday morning after an apparent heart attack at his home. Funeral services will be conducted by 3 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. J. Luther Balentine, assisted by the Rev. J. W. Middleton and C. J. Inabinet. Interment will follow in St. Matthews Lutheran Cemetery near Creston. Mr. Weeks was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late John Marion Weeks and Josephine Amanda Wertz Weeks, originally of Edgefield County. At Trinity Methodist Church, he served as Sunday School Superintendent and for 40 years was an honorary member of the Church Council. He was the past chancellor commander and charter member of Elloree Knights of Pythias from which he recently received a 50-year pin. He served three terms in the House of Representatives from Orangeburg County. Mr. Weeks was also co-owner of J. H. and J. S. Weeks Mercantile Store, which is one of Elloree's old business houses. Recently he was affiliated with Elloree Trading Co. He was married to the Mrs. Maggie Holloway Weeks, who died on November 18, 1955. They had one son, Marion Holloway Weeks, an honor graduate of Newberry College, who died in a tragic accident in 1932 [1931]. He is survived by a brother, John H. Weeks of Elloree; five nephews, the Rev. T. H. Weeks, of Lexington, John M. Weeks of Los Angeles, Calif., W. U. and R. S. Weeks of Elloree and Capt. Edward F. Irick of Fort Benning, Ga., and three nieces, Mrs. Earl M. Koontz of Wheeling, W.Va., Mrs. Frank Addy and Mrs. Tom Sample of Saluda. © The State, Columbia, SC, 3 Mar 1959
