Funeral services were Monday in Cottonwood. The body was brought to Great Falls for committal services Wednesday in Manchester cemetery. Funeral services were Monday in Cottonwood. The body was brought to Great Falls for committal services Wednesday in Manchester cemetery. Josepha Hoffman was born in Greencreek, Illinois, attending schools in that state. Her family moved to Cottonwood to farm when she was 12 years old. She married Fred Romain there in 1908. They operated a general store there at Keuterville, Idaho, until 1913. That year they came to the Marias section, farming there for about 35 years. From 1948 until his death in 1957, Mr. Romain operated a farm near Augusta, while they lived in Great Falls. Mrs. Romain continued to live in Great Falls until 1975 when she went to Cottonwood to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Lena Hoene. Survivors with Mrs. Hoene are another daughter, Delores Hutchison; six sons, Bernard Romain of Grangeville, Idaho; Lawrence Romain of Great Falls; Clarence and Raymond Romain of Chester; Alfred Romain of Lompoc, Calif.; and John Romain of Whitefish; brothers, Anthony, Lawrence and Ferdinand Hoffman, all of Lewistown, Idaho; sisters, Mrs. Peter Seubert and Mrs. Gust Seubert of Marathon, Wis.; Mrs. Morris Stipes and Mrs. William Hagen, both of Tacoma, Wash.; 27 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
