Description	:	Josephine Elizabeth Walquist was born in Lidkoping, Sweden, December 13, 1850, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. Kahm at Friend, Nebraska, Saturday night at eleven-thirty o'clock, January 4, 1930, at the age of seventy-nine years and twenty-two days. She came to American on May 3, 1872, and was married to August Bergstrand, at Trenton, New Jersey, February 2, 1874, and moved to Fairmont, Nebraska in 1878. To this union five children were born. She came to American on May 3, 1872, and was married to August Bergstrand, at Trenton, New Jersey, February 2, 1874, and moved to Fairmont, Nebraska in 1878. To this union five children were born. One of them died in infancy. Mr. Bergstrand died at Fairmont, September 11, 1894. She leaves to mourn her loss, three sons, Joseph and William of Benedict, Nebraska, Harry of Fairmont, and one daughter, Mrs. E. Kahm of Friend; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, besides a hose of friends. She was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran Church in early childhood, and in later years united with the Methodist Episcopal Church. She treasured her Christ and His love above all earthly possessions. She never tired rendering service for her church, of which she was a devoted member, nor of giving of herself and substance for the building of Christ's Kingdom on earth, in which she was an ardent believer. Her presence at prayer meeting and the services of the church was always an inspiration and help to others. She received constant strength and comfort from the promises of her Savior until the last of her life. She made her home with her daughter and family for the last eighteen years. After prayer at the home of her daughter last Tuesday afternoon, the funeral service was held at the First Congregational Church of Friend, Nebraska, conducted by Rev. J.R. Bucknell, pastor of the Methodist church, assisted by Rev. William Becker, pastor of the Congregational church. A ladies quartet from the Methodist choir, consisting of Mesdames W.A. Brown, E.B. Froelich, Geo. Emeigh and Miss Helen Bauer, sang three selections, and Mrs. A. E. Hughes played the organ. The front of the church was banked with beautiful floral offerings and a large concourse of friends attended the service. The body was laid to rest in the Fairmont cemetery.
