Description	:	Harry Bergstrand, son of August and Josephine Walquist Bergstrand, was born at Fairmont, Neb., on January 4, 1882, and passed away at the Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend, Neb., on December 3, 1978, at the age of 96 years, 10 months and 0 days. Read More	Harry Bergstrand, son of August and Josephine Walquist Bergstrand, was born at Fairmont, Neb., on January 4, 1882, and passed away at the Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend, Neb., on December 3, 1978, at the age of 96 years, 10 months and 0 days. He was one of four children in the family. He attended rural school near Fairmont, Fairmont high school and attended York college for two years. He was married to Anna Hofrichter of Bellwood, Neb., on September 8, 1908, and two children were born to this marriage. After her death, he was married to his second wife, Maggie Price. He had been a member of the United Methodist church in Fairmont since 1910, and was a faithful member of the church board. He was presented a 50-year pin by the Fairmont Masonic Lodge No. 48 AF &AM on March 3, 1977. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He served on the school board of District 1 for many years. He also served on the Fillmore County Board of Supervisors. He enjoyed telling of his experiences as a young boy; like the blizzard of '88 of which he had a vivid recollection. He recalled the "big fire" in Fairmont that wiped out a block of business places as well as his trip to Canada in a freight car. He had a very special love for little children. He was preceded in death by his wives; a baby daughter and grandson; two brothers, Joe and William; one sister, Josephine Kahm; son-in-law, John Drommond; step-sons, Raymond, Charles and Morris Price. In passing, he is survived by his daughter, Mrs. (John) Florence Drommond; three grandchildren, Mrs. Ruth Ann Ronne, Richard and Robert Drommond; two step-grandchildren, Suzanne Duilia and LuRay Workman; four step-great-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Services were held at the United Methodist Church of Exeter, Neb., on Tuesday, December 5, 1978, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Homer B. Clements officiating. Mrs. Ed Votipka was organist and accompanied Mrs. John Horne, who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art." The casket bearers were Lloyd Dawson, John McBride, Larry Neiman, Badger Halsey, Leslie Miles and Everett Real. Interment was made in the Fairmont public cemetery of Fairmont, Neb.
