Death was attributed to heart trouble. The deceased was in apparent good health and the news of his sudden demise comes as a severe shock to his many friends and relatives. He was always a kind and loving father and husband and was identified with practically every movement for the good of the community in which he lived. He leaves a wide circle of friends and relatives to mourn his death. Josiah Beck was born in Crawford county, Ohio, the son of Daniel and Mary Beck and was 71 years, 5 months and 3 days of age at the time of his death. He was united in marriage on January 6, 1878, to Lydia Jane Kleinknight, and to this union four children were born. Mr. Beck came to Indiana in 1882 to make his home. He was a member of the Tocsin U. B. church. Surviving besides the widow are the following children: Charles Beck, of Peru; Mrs. Charles Shimer, of Bluffton; and Shannon Beck, at home. One daughter, Mrs. Maudie Johnson, preceded her father in death in 1910. One sister, Mrs. Adam Hershner, of Galion, Ohio, also survives. The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Tocsin U. B. church in charge of Rev. H. B. Meade. Burial will be in the cemetery at Tocsin.
