Mrs. Maudie Johnston, the young wife of Walter Johnston, of Decatur, died last evening at seven thirty at the home of his mother, Mrs. Lizzie Johnston, of Tocsin, after several years illness with tuberculosis. Her condition has been one of gradual decline for the past year although prior to that time she had been subject to more or less extended periods of complete or partial invalidism for a period of several years. Since last Sunday it had been evident that she was gradually sinking. The funeral services will be held on Sunday morning at ten o'clock at the Tocsin church and will be in charge of Rev. Mulligan. The burial will take place in the new Prairie View cemetery north of Tocsin. The decedent was about twenty-eight years of age and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Beck, who reside one mile west and one-half mile north of Tocsin. She was married about eight years ago to Walter Johnston, a son of Mrs. Lizzie Johnston, of Tocsin and a brother of Trustee Melvin Johnston of Jefferson township. They have two young children, a boy and a girl, who survive with the husband and father. Mr. Johnston is a resident of Decatur, where he is employed there as a saddler. His wife, however, spent considerable time prior to her death at the home of his mother in Tocsin. ***Note: The newspaper article spelled her last name wrong in several places.
