He later was a farmer of Buchanan township, Berrien County Michigan. Josiah and Lavinda Beckwith moved from Connecticut to New York in 1826. They came to Michigan in the 1830's. They settled in Buchanan township, Berrien County Michigan on May 18, 1849. Josiah's wife "L. H. Beckwith", was later listed as a land owner, in N.-E. Section 20, of Buchanan township. They were members of the Christian Church. -------------------------------- The 1850 and 1860 census, of Buchanan township, Berrien County Michigan, lists Josiah and Lavinda Beckwith, and their children. -------------------------------- Josiah died at the age of "almost" 63 years. -------------------------------- The children of Josiah R. Beckwith and Lavinda Hide Fisk are: (all born in New York) --- 1. Edgar R. Beckwith (1834-1875). m. Louisa J. Monroe, the daughter of Moses Monroe and Harriet Wade. Louisa was born April 5, 1842, in Portage, Michigan, and she died on Dec. 10, 1936, in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County Michigan, age 94. Land owner in N.-W. Section 19, of Buchanan township, Berrien Co. MI. Edger is listed as operating a grocery, in Dayton Village (on the S.-W. side of Buchanan, MI). Buried: Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan, Berrien County Michigan. --- 2. Edward A. Beckwith. b. 1836. d. Jan. 28, 1899 age 62 years, 4 months, and 20 days. Lived in Buchanan, Michigan. Buried: Bakertown Cemetery, Buchanan, Berrien County Michigan. --- 3. Mary Fidelia Beckwith. b. 1838. m. Richard R. Moon, on Nov. 24, 1852. Richard was the son of Zimri Moon, and his first wife Asenath. d. May 11, 1869, in Buchanan, Berrien County Michigan, age 31. Lived in Buchanan, Michigan. --- 4. Maria Beckwith. b. about 1838-39. m. "Mariah" Beckwith married Andrew N. Graham, on July 3, 1857, in Berrien Co. MI. Lived in Liberty, Indiana. --- 5. John T. Beckwith. b. May 26, 1841, in New York. m. # 1. Mary A. Young, in March 1867. Mary was born in Shelby Co Indiana, and she died Feb. 23, 1874. John and Mary had 1 son and 2 daughters: Alta L. (she married Edward Harner). Minnie P. (she married Franklin Kool). Son Beckwith. m. # 2. Mrs. Henrietta (Weaver) Boyle (the widow of Fred Boyle), on Oct. 24, 1878. Henrietta and Fred Boyle had one son, Charles Boyle. Henrietta is the daughter of Jacob Weaver and his second wife Orpha Crumb. John and Henrietta had four sons: Clayton (of Benton Harbor, MI), Earl (of Wisconsin), Glenn (of Benton Harbor, MI), and Vene/Vera Beckwith. John owned 300 acres of land near Benton Harbor, Berrien Co. Michigan. Buried: Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor, Berrien County Michigan. Large articles on John T. Olive was a teacher at the Wagner School (District # 5), in Buchanan township in 1860. m. Aron Weaver, on Oct. 4, 1863, in Berrien County Michigan, by Rev. William M. Roe. Children: Lillie May, Floss, and Frank J. Weaver. They lived in Kirwin, Kansas. Buried: Kirwin Cemetery, Kirwin, Phillips County Kansas. --- 7. Almira L. Beckwith. b. about 1846. m. Richard R. Moon, on Sept. 19, 1869, in Berrien County Michigan. Richard was previously been married to her sister Mary F. Beckwith. Lived in Buchanan, MI in 1880. Lived in Kirwin, Kansas. Buried: (?)
