Mother of Jeffrey David and Shawn David Strain. Joyce Ann Strain, 58, of Prairie Creek, died unexpectedly Friday Nov. 16, 2007 in an automobile accident. The same accident also claimed the life of her husband, Max D. Strain. She was born April 8, 1949 in Sullivan County, to Earl Romine and Virginia Huff Romine, who survive. Joyce Ann Strain, 58, of Prairie Creek, died unexpectedly Friday Nov. 16, 2007 in an automobile accident. The same accident also claimed the life of her husband, Max D. Strain. She was born April 8, 1949 in Sullivan County, to Earl Romine and Virginia Huff Romine, who survive. She was a graduate of North Central High School, Farmersburg, and Indiana State University. She was a retired school teacher for the Northeast School Corporation in Sullivan County. She also was a member of Farmersburg United Methodist Church in Farmersburg. Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey D. Strain and wife Marnie of Fairbanks and Shawn D. Strain and wife Shannon of Lewis; six grandchildren, Haley Strain, Connor Strain, Tyler Strain, Ethan Hamblen, Colton Hall and Megan Hall; five sisters, Janice Malone and husband Dennis, Karen Sampson and husband Steve, all of Farmersburg, Sandra Drake and husband Greg of Belton, Mo., Leanna Turner and husband Steve of Terre Haute and Deanna Romine of Deland, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Don Chatfield. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery.
