Max David Strain, 59, of Prairie Creek died unexpectedly Friday Nov. 16, 2007 in an automobile accident that also claimed the life of his wife, Joyce A. Strain. Max David Strain, 59, of Prairie Creek died unexpectedly Friday Nov. 16, 2007 in an automobile accident that also claimed the life of his wife, Joyce A. Strain. He was born Oct. 24, 1948 in Vigo County, to the Rev. Elmer Strain and Mary Huddleston Strain. He was the business agent and construction chairman for Teamsters Local 135, and a member of the Shelburn Masonic Lodge F and AM, and the Farmersburg United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey D. Strain and wife Marnie of Fairbanks and Shawn D. Strain and wife Shannon of Lewis; six grandchildren, Haley Strain, Connor Strain, Tyler Strain, Ethan Hamblen, Colton Hall and Megan Hall; one sister, Janet Manley and husband Marvin of Prairie Creek; and five brothers, Bob Strain, Kenny Strain and wife Sharon "Cookie" and Jack Strain and wife Sharon all of Prairie Creek, Bud Strain and wife Virginia of North Carolina, and Terry Strain and wife Kathy of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Strain Jr.; and his parents. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery.
