Joyce earned a BS in Psychology, BS in nursing and MS in social work. She worked in the Child Support Enforcement Division of SRS from 1974 to 1978. She was a psychiatric nurse supervisor at Menninger Foundation from 1982 to 1985. Read More	Joyce Gordon-Raske, 48, Topeka, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Ms. Gordon-Raske was born Joyce Laman on July 7, 1952, at Concordia, Kansas. Joyce earned a BS in Psychology, BS in nursing and MS in social work. She worked in the Child Support Enforcement Division of SRS from 1974 to 1978. She was a psychiatric nurse supervisor at Menninger Foundation from 1982 to 1985. She served as pastor of the Lecompton United Methodist Church from 1985 to 1988 and became Director of Clinical Services for Topeka AIDS Project in 1988. She was later in private practice as a psychotherapist in Topeka, Kansas, retiring in 2000, and taught many classes at the Women's Center. She was a member of the state and national nurses associations, National Association of Social Workers, Sigma Theta Tau, National Nursing Honor Society, and Metropolitan Community Church in Topeka. She also received the Honors Award of Excellence in Gerentological Studies from St. Paul's School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri. Survivors include her mother, Shirley A. Laman, of Concordia, Kansas; her daughter, Sarah R. Raske, of Lawrence; her son, Benjamin R. Gordon of Topeka and friend Donna K. Dodge of Topeka. She is preceded in death by her father, John G. Laman and her brother John C. Laman. The funeral was at Penwall-Gabel Funeral Mid Town Chapel, Topeka. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, with visitation prior at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the American Heart Association or the John C. Laman Scholarship Fund, Concordia.
