Description	:	Shirley A Laman, age 83, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia. She was born on Nov. 11, 1929 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Charles & Beatrice (Gardner) Fisk. Shirley graduated from Concordia High School in 1947. She married John G. Laman on February 20, 1948, in Concordia. They were the parents to two children, John Charles and Joyce Arlene. Read More	Shirley A Laman, age 83, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia. She was born on Nov. 11, 1929 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Charles & Beatrice (Gardner) Fisk. Shirley graduated from Concordia High School in 1947. She married John G. Laman on February 20, 1948, in Concordia. They were the parents to two children, John Charles and Joyce Arlene. Her husband preceded her in death on February 27, 1998, just a few days after their 50th wedding anniversary. Shirley later married Carl Hobbie on November 18, 2006, in Concordia and he preceded her on November 19, 2011. Shirley was a farm wife. In January of 1989 Shirley retired as an office assistant IV after 18 years with the Social and Rehabilitation Services in Concordia. She also owned and operated the Gordon Credit & Collection Bureau as well as Nu Concept.Centre, Inc. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, John C. Laman & daughter, Joyce A. Gordon-Raske. Shirley is survived by two grandchildren, Benjamin Gordon, Topeka, and Sarah (Raske) Fleener & husband Jason, Gladstone, MO; two great-granddaughters, Bailey & Laci Fleener, Gladstone, MO & her daughter-in-law, Deborah Pelter-Laman, Concordia; in addition to her friend and personal assistant, Carol, and her beloved Boston Terrier, Patty. Memorial services were held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 10:30 am at Concordia Lutheran Church, Concordia with Rev. David Strommen officiating. Burial of the cremains followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Memorials may be made to the John C. Laman Scholarship Fund at Cloud County Community College in care of the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
