It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joyce Ena Swim announces her passing at Roseway Hospital on November 30, 2018 after a long and courageous fight with cancer. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joyce Ena Swim announces her passing at Roseway Hospital on November 30, 2018 after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Joyce was born in Clark's Harbour, CSI on November 12, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Sheldon and Gertrude (Atkinson) Swim. Biological father was the late Charles Crowell. She is survived by her grandson Connor (Kaitlyn) and great granddaughter Piper Swim of North Carolina. Also by her brothers James (Karen) Swim of Clark's Harbour; Sheldon (Donna) Swim of Wedgeport; and Stephen (Gladys) Swim of West Pubnico; and a sister-in-law Nancy Swim of Picton, Ontario and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased recently by her husband, Wendell. And also her sons Anthony and Darren; daughter Joy; sister Christine and brother Curtis. Joyce participated in the Terry Fox Run for 37 years, some of them pushing her son Darren in his wheelchair. She was one of the Nannies in the "Row for Nanny's Cure" which was inspired by two grandsons, Connor Swim and Holden Nickerson, for their grandmothers' fight against cancer. The activity still continues each summer and has grown tremendously over the years raising money for the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund which helps cancer patients from the Municipality of Barrington and town of Clark's Harbour with their expenses. Joyce also participated in Relay for Life for many years. Through all her years of fighting this disease, Joyce didn't let it get her down. She fought courageously through everything that came her way with dignity and strength until the end. She always put other people before herself and was a friend to many and she will surely be missed. Her motto was: I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 The family would like to thank the staff of oncology at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital for the years spent there for treatments and the doctors, nurses and staff at the Roseway Hospital in Shelburne for the care and compassion she was given during the last 6 weeks of her life. There will be visitation held Monday, December 3 from 7-9pm at the H. M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Barrington. The funeral service will be Tuesday, December 4, at 2pm at the New Testament Church, the Hawk with Pastor Paul Lavender officiating. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Lower Clark's Harbour
