She was born on April 23, 1909, near Summitville, the daughter of John W. and Mandy Heimer Hoffman. She married Martin P. Johnson on April 22, 1925, in Summitville. he preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1989. She was born on April 23, 1909, near Summitville, the daughter of John W. and Mandy Heimer Hoffman. She married Martin P. Johnson on April 22, 1925, in Summitville. he preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1989. Survivors include: a daughter, Bernice Johnson of Keokuk; a son, Leroy Johnson and his wife, Pat of Montrose; a son-in-law, Lee Marsh of Keokuk; two sisters, Rose Moyer of Crescent City, Ill., and Mary Phillips of Keokuk; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Marsh; a son, Emmett Johnson; two brothers, John and Herbert Hoffman; three sisters, Sarah Longshore, Belva LeVeque and Gertrude Meyers; and three great-grandsons. She loved living on the farm and taking care of the farm animals. She enjoyed gardening and canning the fresh produce she grew. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Keokuk. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, with the Rev. Bill Hartman officiating. Burial will be in the Sandusky Cemetery, rural Keokuk. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with family meeting friends at that time, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Assembly of God Church of Keokuk.
