Description	:	Martin P. Johnson Martin P. Johnson, 96, a retired farmer of the Summitville Community, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, in his home, following a long illness. He was born July 15, 1893, in Galland, Iowa, the son of S.P. and Mary Peterson Johnson. He married Julia Hoffman on April 22, 1925, in Summitville, Iowa. he spent his entire life in Lee County moving to his present farm in 1911. Johnson, 96, a retired farmer of the Summitville Community, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, in his home, following a long illness. He was born July 15, 1893, in Galland, Iowa, the son of S.P. and Mary Peterson Johnson. He married Julia Hoffman on April 22, 1925, in Summitville, Iowa. he spent his entire life in Lee County moving to his present farm in 1911. He also was employed at Midwest Carbide from 1941-1951, retiring due to poor health. He was a member of the Keokuk Assembly of God Church, and a World War I Veteran, having been stationed at Camp Pike, Little Rock, Ark., where he received his training as a cook. Survivors include his wife Julia; daughters Mrs. Lee (Dorothy) Marsh of Keokuk and Bernice Johnson at home; son LeRoy Johnson of Montrose; foster son Emmett Johnson of Texas, 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister and three brothers. services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home with the Rev. Edward Aubuchon officiating. Burial will be in the Sandusky Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1 p.. topday at the Vigen Memorial Home and the family will meet with friends from 7-9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Christ Vision Television.
