Julia L. Martin, a daughter of William H. and Emma T. Bourke Martin, was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Halls Summit, Kan. She married Noah D. Plank in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waverly on May 1, 1941. Mrs. Plank was a homemaker and later she and her husband managed Jones Funeral Home and operated Jones Furniture Store in Waverly from 1970 to 1980. She was a member of the St. Joseph church and the St. Joseph Altar Society in Waverly and had been a member of an Extension Home Unit and the red Hat Ladies. Among her numerous activities in the community were the Waverly Senior Center and serving on the Waverly Llibrary Board. She is survived by one son, Jim Plank of Waverly; two sisters, Georgia Smith and Emma Hund, both of Topeka; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died on Jan. 9, 2002; two brothers, William H. Martin Jr. and James Martin; and a sister, Margaret Bauman.
