Hope cemetery in Scotia yesterday. - - - - - Ella (Baker) Wood - Obituary Ella Baker was born in Thurman, Warren County, New York. Her mother died when she was three years old and she was reared by her maternal grandmother. At fifteen she began teaching school and taught for ten years. In 1879 she was united in marriage to William R. Wood of Chestertown, Warren County, New York. To this union were born eight children and eleven grandchildren, five of whom are living: Russell W., Watson and Orren of Greeley, Carman of Loup City, and Leah Dye of Comstock. Three children preceded her in death, Clarence D., Mary Louise and Fred M. They came to Nebraska in 1883 and settled on a homestead in Greeley County where they made their home until her death July 23, 1934 at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 23 days.
