She was born October 19, 1933, in rural Glen Ulm, North Dakota, to Hans and Beatrice Namanny. She spent her youth on a small farm near Wolsey, South Dakota, with her parents, brother and four sisters. She met her husband and love of her life, Lieutenant Colonel Lyle Cecil Baker, USAF Ret., on her nineteenth birthday and they married on February 21, 1955. June adored her children and her grandchildren. Her days were happiest when she was spending time loving on and spoiling them. Especially her grandchildren! Rarely did they visit when she hadn't already bought bags of goodies and new clothes for them. June's love for others was not limited to her family. Numerous childhood friends of her children considered her their "second mother." She always welcomed them into her home, encouraged them when they needed encouraging, and disciplined them if they needed discipling. June loved and cared for them as her own children. June and Lyle were faithful members of 1st United Methodist Church of Rapid City for nearly 60 years. During her time there she demonstrated her faith and love of Christ through her continual investment in others; mentoring women in church, hosting new couples and singles in her home, and serving in numerous volunteer positions at church. June prided herself as a "matchmaker", with several of her matches getting married. June enjoyed playing bridge and was extremely proud to achieve the contract bridge rank of Life Master. June is preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Beatrice Namanny, her brother Richard Namanny, and her sisters Joyce Rodman and Maxine Hein. She is survived her husband; her 2 sisters; her 2 children; her 5 grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews.
