Description	:	Jurgen (Jerry) Harms, 95, of Adams died Monday morning, June 27, 2016 at his home. He was born on December 28, 1920 at rural Adams and attended Hooker School. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. In 1942, Jerry was inducted into the Army Air Force and served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre being discharged in 1946. He was born on December 28, 1920 at rural Adams and attended Hooker School. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. In 1942, Jerry was inducted into the Army Air Force and served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre being discharged in 1946. He married Elaine Mahler on October 13, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sterling. They lived and farmed southeast of Adams. In 1971 they moved into Adams where he worked for Fritz Implement for 18 years and the Farmers Co-Op for 16 years. He was also worked for BAB Construction. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell and since his marriage was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sterling where he held various offices. He was a member of VFW Post #10042 and the Adams American Legion Post #0221. He enjoyed his family, friends, going to the coffee shop, playing cards and working outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Harms of Adams; daughter-in-law, Diane Harms of DeWitt; three grandchildren, Ryan Harms and wife LeAnn of Lincoln, Nicole Kraus and husband David of Friend, and Kristal Niles and husband Faron of Adams; five great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Brethouwer; three brothers, Willie, Eddie and Louie Harms; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Adeline Schmidt Harms; step-mother, Mabel Schwartz Harms; his son, Rick, who died on March 30, 2014; three sisters, Grace Parde, Tena Parde and Adeline who died in infancy; six brothers, Harm, John Jr., Marvin, Kenneth, LeRoy and Robert Harms. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sterling with Pastor Jason Wolter officiating. Inurnment of the cremains will be at the Highland Cemetery of Adams with military rites conducted by VFW Post #10042 and the American Legion at 10:15 A.M. Thursday. Cremation has taken place and there will be no viewing. A register book will be available at the Fox Funeral Home of Adams on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. A memorial has been established to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Sterling with the church elders in charge. A guestbook for signatures and messages of condolence is available online at www.foxfuneralhome.net. Fox Funeral Home of Adams in charge of the arrangements.
