Read More	DEATH FOLLOWS BRIEF ILLNESS Karl Bruhn Suddenly Stricken on Trip to Consult Physician Karl A. Bruhn, a resident of Akron vicinity for nearly fifty years, passed away Monday forenoon, January 30, 1939, after a brief illness. He had not felt well the past few weeks, complaining of shortness of breath at times, and Monday morning engaged his nephew, Ted Dimmick, west of town, to take him to Elk Point to consult a physician. They had reached a point a couple of miles west of River Sioux park when Mr. Bruhn became suddenly ill. Mr. Dimmick took him to the nearby farmhouse of Andrew Peterson, several miles north of Elk Point, and called a physician from there. The doctor arrived shortly, but nothing could be done for the stricken man, who soon succumbed to the heart attack. Karl August Bruhn was born in Cismar, Germany, January 12, 1863, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church, and grew to young manhood there. He came to America in April 1889, and settled on a farm in Union county, S.D., west of Akron. There he was married to Miss Elfriede Andresen, January 31, 1893. His beloved wife passed away August 29, 1915. He farmed in Union county until the year 1918, when he moved to Akron, which remained his home until the time of his death. Left to mourn his departure are three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law and a number of nephews and nieces. Mr. Bruhn was an upright, honest citizen hard working during his years of activity. A kind and generous nature gained him many friends who held him in high esteem and who will miss him from the daily walks of life. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock from the Rossow Funeral Home and at 2 o'clock in Trinity Lutheran church conducted by Rev. Fred A. Meske. The pallbearers were Adolf Schuster, Aug. Meske, Frank Eden, Ebbo Willms, Frank Jacobs, and Wm. Dirks. Interment was at the Riverside cemetery.
