Description	:	Karolyn competed in the NBC television quiz show Jeopardy in 1971, becoming the show's 77th undefeated champion. Karolyn Olsen Battle, January 25, 1933April 20, 2001, formerly of Lexington, VA and more recently of the Florida Keys and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL died peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She attended Kincaid School, Walnut Hill Prep School and Smith College, where she graduated magna cum laude. She was a former member of the Junior League of Houston, The Garden Club of Virginia and during her time in the Florida Keys, she volunteered at The Museum of Natural History of the Florida Keys. More recently, she had been active in the local library and the Meals on Wheels of Ponte Vedra Beach. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, and traveling, which she did extensively in recent years, visiting her family throughout the Unites States. Her love of life and family, quest for knowledge, kindness, positive outlook and strength were an inspiration and will be remembered by those who knew her and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents Dorothea and Olaf la Cour Olsen. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Marion S. Battle, Jr., and by her devoted children, William Olsen Battle and wife Debra of Richmond, VA, Dorothea Ravenel Battle Merritt and husband Morgan of Anchorage, AK, Karen la Cour Battle Smith of Seattle, WA, Robert Somerville Battle and wife Felicia of Avon, CO and numerous grandchildren, and also by her brother Erik la Cour Olsen and wife Hilda and sister Ellen la Cour Olsen Briggs and husband George and other relatives. Cremation arranged by Duval County Cremation Society, (7305080).
