Wycoff was born in Brooks County, West Virginia, October 1, 1831, and died at her home northwest of Birmingham, Iowa, March 6, 1920, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 29 days. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1842 and settled at Keokuk, 1858 moving to Van Buren County, and settling near Birmingham. She was married to Anthony Woodrow March 6, 1860. To this union was born six children, four sons surviving her: Joseph, John and Charles of Birmingham, and Robert of Fairfield, Iowa, two daughters, Lizzie and Addie Belle who died in early childhood. She is also survived by three grandsons: Anthony J. and Lloyd C. of Birmingham, and Harold R. of Fairfield; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wm. Wycoff of Conway Springs, Kas.[sic], and Thomas Wycoff of Winfield, Kas.[sic]. Her husband, who was one of the influential and prominent men of his day, preceded her in death June 24, 1899. A good mother and good faithful woman has passed from the toil, the uncertainties of life to her eternal home and reward. The weary pilgrimage is ended; she has passed beyond the smiling and the weeping across the river that lies between this and yonder shore, to be with Jesus and to know the pleasures that are at his right hand forevermore. The old Cumberland Presbyterian church to which she and her husband belonged, was built one quarter of a mile south of the home on their farm. She was a true and faithful member of the same. The funeral service was held at the home on Monday afternoon, the 8th, conducted by Rev. H. W. Munster and Rev. Roberts. Interment in Maple Hill cemetery of Birmingham. The family desire to thank most cordially the kind neighbors and friends who have rendered their sympathy and aid in the hour of bereavement. Source: Van Buren Co.
