John Ellis Large presided over the marriage of Katharine to A. Fred White of Roanoke, Va., at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Wilmington, Del., on June 11, 1949. She and her husband resided for 35 years in Hazlet, where they raised their son. They retired to Morristown in 1991, where their son and his wife reside. Mrs. White was a 1938 graduate of Newark High School, Newark, Del., and a 1940 graduate of Goldey Business College in Wilmington, Dela. She worked in the insurance business until the birth of her son. Later she would return to work for Vogel's, a once-prominent women's clothing store in Red Bank, N.J. Mrs. White loved clothes and was an accomplished seamstress. She was an active, longtime member of the Episcopal Church. She and her husband were members of Grace Episcopal Church in Madison and also attended Hildale Park Presbyterian Church in Cedar Knolls. She was a member of the Shrewsbury Towne, Monmouth County chapter of the D.A.R. Mrs. White was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, Wright and Eugene, and two sisters, Mary and Sarah. Survivors are her husband, Fred; son, Allen and daughter-in-law, Valerie, and seven nieces and two nephews. Star-Ledger, The (Newark, NJ) - January 11, 2010
