Read More	Obituary Mrs. Dorothea Kammeyer Mrs. Katherine Marie Dorothea Kammeyer was born on March 6, 1852 at Stadorf, near Epsdorf, Hanover Province, Germany. She was the oldest child of John Weidler and his wife, Marie nee Karstens. Soon after birth she was baptized in the Lutheran church at Epsdorf. She was reared in the vicinity of Epsdorf by her Christian parents, who sent her to the parochial school at Epsdorf until she reached the age of 14. In 1866 she was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Epsdorf, and thereafter she worked in the neighborhood of that town until she was 21 years of age. Deciding to emigrate to America, she left her native land on May 1, 1873, and with a number of friends, she arrived at Elmhurst, Illinois on the 22nd of May of the same year. Here she found work for about a year. On August 9, 1874, she was united in marriage with Friederich Kammeyer in the Lutheran Church at Provise, Illinois. This marriage was blessed with ten children, five sons and five daughters. One daughter, Amanda, died in infancy. The newly married couple made their first home near Provise, in Cook county, Illinois. Later they moved to Lace, in DuPage County, Illinois. In 1886 they came to Iowa, purchasing a farm near Boyd, where they lived until 1913, when they moved to Fredericksburg. In September 1916 her husband entered to his eternal rest. One daughter, Mrs. Mathilda Gitch, died in 1929. Here stepdaughter, Mrs. Bertha Moeller of Chicago, also preceded her in death five years ago. After her husbands death she remained in her home at Fredericksburg until the declining years of her life. About a year ago the infirmities of old age made it necessary for her to go to the home of her children. She stayed with her daughter Mary for awhile and later moved to Hinsdale, Illinois, where she spent the rest of her life with her children at Hinsdale. Always interested in her church and loyally working for it in whatever community she lived, we was privileged once more to attend the church in Provise, Illinois, a short time before her death, where she was united with her husband in holy wedlock. At the turn of the year her health began to fail and she was confined to her bed most of the time. Her 89th birthday was observed by her children on March 6th. The following morning she suffered the misfortune of a broken hip. During her stay in Illinois she received the spiritual ministration of the pastor of her children, and on April 1st the Lord in mercy answered her greatest wish and oft repeated prayer by calling her to her eternal reward. She attained the age of 89 years and 25 days. In loving consideration for her church she bequeathed a gift both to the church and to the Ladies Aid to which she belonged. Her entire life can be briefly and accurately described by saying that she lived and died by the faith in her Savior. She is survived by three of her daughters: Mrs. Mary Weitenhagen of Fredericksburg, Mrs. Alma Kolzow and Mrs Edna Pantke both of Hinsdale, Illinois, five sons, Louis, Henry and Fred of Fredericksburg; Will of New Hampton; Herman of Hinsdale; 30 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. Also our entire St. Paul's congregation of Fredericksburg mourns her departure, as well as many other relatives and friends. __________________________ Mrs. Dorothy Kammeyer, 89, Dies on April 1 Passed away Tuesday at Hinsdale, Illinois. Funeral services Held Friday at Fredericksburg Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at Fredericksburg for Mrs. Dorothy Kammeyer, who died in Hinsdale, Illinois, on April 1. A short service was held at 1:30 at the home of her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Weitenhagen and at 2:00 o'clock in the Lutheran church with Reverend Wunderlich in charge. Her coffin was borne by her five sons, L.F. Kammeyer, Wm. Kammeyer, H.F. Kammeyer, F.A. Kammeyer and H.C. Kammeyer and a son-in-law, Frank Weitenhagen. Burial was in the family lot at Rose Hill Cemetery at Fredericksburg. Attending the funeral from New Hampton were: Mr and Mrs Carl Kammeyer, Mr and Mrs Alve Kammeyer, Mr and Mrs Fred Kammeyer and Irene, Mr and Mrs Herman Gauger, Mr and Mrs Ed Zipse, Mr and Mrs Paul Griesert, Mrs. FC Pietan, Mrs. BJ Stirm, Mrs. Mary Ross, Mrs. Herman Vick, Mrs AC Klatt, Mrs AC Blatti, Mrs WJ Mielke, Mrs H Fenneman, Mrs. Mary Mack, Mrs Minnie Krienke, Millie Wachholz and Mrs Ray Priebe; from Hinsdale, Illinois, Mr and Mrs HC Kammeyer and daughter, Dorothy, Mr and Mrs Ted Kolzow and Mr and Mrs EF Pantke and daughter, Laverna; from Chicago, Fred Moeller, and from Hancock, Minnesota, Mrs. Dora Weidler, Mr and Mrs Herbert Timm and Elmer Weidler.
